RE: Would you have paid?

Sounds similar to the tactic squeegee kids use. Even though you don't want it, they still perform the task and demand money for it.
The proper way of conducting the business would've been giving them business cards or flyers. If they are interested, have them call to make an appointment to have the job done.

RE: If you don't have one of these you need one.

There are three types of DNR status:
DNR 1 = CPR can still be performed
DNR 2 = No CPR but still actively treating the patient
DNR 3 = No CPR, stop active treatment, but still keep patient comfortable

RE: Ozark Trail Camping Gear

Many stores have their own private label brands. They do this because they don't have to spend money to advertise these products and this way they can compete w/ other brands on price.
Quality would be the one of the most important things you have to look at with private label brands. Ozark Trail products seems like a good choice if you are just starting out tent camping and have to purchase a large amount of items and also on a limited budget. After equipment starts to wear and tear, I would expect people to upgrade to higher quality products because they would know what they need and want their replacement.

The only problem I had with the 1st generation iPod was their battery life. I bought a replacement battery and nothing wrong w/ it since.

RE: Survivor: Gabon Africa starts tonight 9/25

Very interesting season it will be. Susie or Dan might be on the chopping block. Susie seems even more useless than Gillian and people in the tribe are still suspects Dan has the immunity idol.
The olympian was tired because she was probably trained in power events such as the 100m. They have great bursts of speed but pretty much no endurance at all.
I couldn't stop laughing when Marcus picked the lawyer to be on his team, he came running and gave him the biggest hug as if he's known him for years. Of course, that's not his cup of tea.

RE: Advice for scout tent

I would take Ken2k3d's advice and go with the Alps Mountaineering 45% discount to Scouts.
Question: Is the discount limited to certain models or does it apply to their full line?

RE: Advice for scout tent

Look for a tent that has really good ventilation and at the same time will keep you dry if it starts pouring. Some tents has a velcro scoop on the rainfly that will increase ventilation in the tent.
Another good feature to have on a tent are vestibules. This way you can put some gear outside and your shoes. This will keep the tent somewhat clean. You would want a full cover rainfly because the 3/4 cover rainfly will not be enough in a storm.
If there's an REI store near you, I suggest you to go there. Their employees have the experience and knowledge to tell you which tents are good. Also, look out for their garage sales but make sure you are there early as the good gear and good deals are usually the first to go. I usually go wait at 6am with a buddy to make sure I am one of the first 50 people in line.

RE: Best season for tent camping

Late-Spring/Early-Summer and Fall are my favourite seasons to go tent camping. I don't really mind bugs except for black flies.

RE: Gmail

I love gmail and don't find it confusing at all. I like the "conversation" feature because it prevents my inbox being flooded when there is multiple people replying to one main e-mail.
I also like the "star" feature because it makes finding important e-mails a lot easier.

RE: 4 person 3 season tent

REI Base Camp 4 Tent
This tent will be good for car camping. But if you're looking for a backpacking type tent, REI Half Dome 4 HC Tent might suit your needs more.
Both these tents have great ventilation and have a vestibule to store gear. From experience, REI has quality tents with great customer service. That's why I go back to them even if you have to pay a bit more for their products.
If you're lucky, you may be able to find one for a good price at their next garage sale :). I bought the Half Dome 2 HC at their garage sale for $30 and the reason for returning it was it was missing a tent peg which I replaced on the spot.

RE: Escort tents on sale, worth the price?

There should be a Mountain Equipment Co-op(MEC) store in Montreal where you can find higher quality gear and very good advice and customer service. It is very similar to REI stores in the USA. The Eureka Copper Canyon will probably suit your needs better since you are just starting out tent camping and you would need to put money into other camping equipment such as cooking equipment, lanterns, mattresses, etc. Just remember, you get what you pay for.
When I used to work in downtown Toronto, I would spend my lunch hour in the MEC store. Now that I live across from Detroit, I only stop by at REI during our cross-border shopping.

RE: Computer Games

Starcraft 2 is in the works....
SC2
I cant wait for that one either. Blizzard makes the best games, with moderate to basic system reqs. Me and my buddies started having lan parties with warcraft 1. What a blast that was. Battle.net cured the need to lug our gear all over town.
My friends and I are also really excited for SC2 to come out. With the new units, features, and skills, I am looking forward in seeing the interesting strategies that will pop up. I wonder if SCV rush will work... hehe. We started to play SC again when Blizzard first released the SC2 trailers. We stopped after a couple weeks because it is infested w/ map hackers. I guess Blizzard stopped caring when WC3 and WoW came out.
Oh yeah, can't forget about Diablo3 coming out. I'm guessing after the first week, players will be selling their SOJs on eBay. LOL

RE: Computer Games

My favourite type of computer game are real-time strategy games such as Starcraft and Warcraft III. They are both made by Blizzard (makers of World of Warcraft aka WoW). Both Starcraft and Warcraft III can be played against other players over the internet via Battlenet. Also, people have made custom maps and games from the map editor. Some favourites are DotA and tower defense maps for Warcraft III.

RE: why do people do this?

When making a left turn, you are supposed to go into the left most traffic lane. For right turns, you are supposed to go into the right most traffic lane. The police can issue an improper right(left) turn ticket if you don't.
